Installing Android apps I sourced from my Samsung S3 to my new Blackberry Z10 was shockingly easy.
No word on when that will be taking place, but N4BB is speculating that major apps such as Skype, Kindle and Spotify could be released once the Blackberry Z10 hits the US market. As it stands T-Mobile and AT&T are expecting the Z10, with T-Mobile expecting a mid-March launch.
- Spotify, Free and Premium. Spotify provides access to stream commercial music as well as podcasts and video. This content is made available from media and record companies and is DRM-restricted. The Spotify app provides various ways to search for content: users can search through feature playlists, chart hits, new releases or genres and moods.
- Hey i found a way to get the Spotify Android App working on the Blackberry Z10 I used this Tutorial: http://forums.crackberry.com/android-app-sideloading-f27.
SHORT VERSION:
- Copy the .APK (Android package file) for the program you want to run on your Blackberry to your Z10’s memory card
- Using your Blackberry Z10, click/tap on the .APK to launch the installer, choose Install, then Open
- Your done
LONG VERSION:
- If you do not already have an .APK for the Android app you want to run on your Blackberry z10, just install the app you want on your Android phone and then use a tool like ASTRO FILE MANAGER to create and .APK (using the BACKUP function).
- Note that I find the new ASTRO tool to be quite cumbersome, so I still use the old one which we have available for your to download HERE.
- Copy the .APK file from your Android cell to your PC and then from your PC to your Z10
- The Blackberry Z10 does NOT let you access the internal memory via a USB cable, so you likely have to add a microSD memory card into the slot beside the battery and change the SETTINGS > STORAGE & ACCESS > MEDIA STORAGE DETAILS > USB MASS STORAGE to ON. When you plug you Z10 into you PC using a USB cable, this memory will appear and you can use it as a thumb drive to copy your .APK file(s) onto.
- On your Blackberry Z10, go to your apps and click FILE MANAGER, then click the DEVICE menu item (very bottom right) and change it to MEDIA CARD
- Find your .APK file and double click/tap it.
- Click INSTALL (top right) when prompted
- Have a nice day, your done. The apps will show up on your screen just like all the other apps.
Thus far, on my Blackberry Z10 I have successfully installed:
![Spotify Blackberry Z10 Apk Spotify Blackberry Z10 Apk](/uploads/1/3/4/1/134109455/148310617.png)
- Netflix
- Crackle
- BBC News
- JetPack Joyride
- RBC (banking app)
- Google Translate
- Cineplex (movie app)
- Team Snap
The ONLY app that has failed to install is Google Maps and I have to think that is because it is a core app in my Samsung S3 which relies on other parts of my phone OR Google has intentionally blocked it from functioning in Z10’s.

We have also tried porting some various other apps including mobile casino apps that we love to play on android that you can find here.
The BlackBerry Q10 is the second BlackBerry 10 smartphone released. The Q10 has a more traditional BlackBerry form factor with a physical keyboard, but doesn’t have the traditional navigation keys or optical trackpad. Despite the physical keyboard, it still leverages the SwiftKey-powered prediction in a more traditional suggestion bar at the bottom of the display. The BlackBerry Q10 also makes use of the traditional BlackBerry keyboard shortcuts. The BlackBerry Q10 launched in May 2013.
Arguably, the most significant feature of the BlackBerry Z10 is the operating system. Though the primary focus on communication hasn’t changed in the software experience, the user interface has moved from one that relies on physical buttons to gestures. The most important one is the quarter-turn swipe from the bottom frame to the right frame to access the Hub. This is where notifications from all sources are unified in one place where users can respond and otherwise interact with them. Swiping up from the bottom returns users to the Active Frame screen, where minimized version of all running applications are visible, while menus can be opened by swiping from the top pane or long-pressing on individual items for context-sensitive actions.
The virtual keyboard for BlackBerry 10 uses a prediction engine powered by SwiftKey which makes suggestions based on personalized usage on a per-app basis. Suggested words appear above the next letter on the keyboard, and are picked by swiping up from that key. The camera software includes a new TimeShift function which shoots a fast burst of photos, and allows users to selectively edit individual faces to different shots taken in that burst to effectively create a moment that never really existed.
